Speed Skating: 500m W/M Mixed Team Relay
Men's and Women's 500m: This is a true sprinters race, with top skaters reaching up to 40 mph by the end of the final turn.
Mixed Team Relay: Three mixed teams of two each skate six laps. The women skate the first lap and then hand off to their male teammates to race the next two. The first team over the finish line, wins.

The FISU World University Games is the largest international winter multi-sport event for collegiate-athletes. The Lake Placid 2023 FISU World University Games, happening January 12-22, 2023, will bring 2,500 collegiate-athletes and delegation officials from more than 50 nations and 600+ universities to Lake Placid and the surrounding North Country region. This 11-day international educational event and competition is expected to be twice the size of Lake Placid’s 1980 Olympic Winter Games as athletes will be competing in 12 sports and 86 medal events.
