UMES - Homecoming Tailgate (GENERAL ADMISSION)

HAWKCOMING TAILGATE POLICY

In lieu of recent events that have targeted the HBCU community, University of Maryland

Eastern Shore will be taking necessary precautions to provide an enjoyable yet safe

homecoming experience.  You will see an increase in police presence, security

checkpoints and bag checks. Please know this is to protect the current student body,

staff, alumni, and the greater campus community. UMES is a smoke-free and dry

campus. 

TAILGATE HOURS:

The tailgate will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 10am-4pm on the gated

track field. The tailgate is $10.00 for the public and free for students. If you leave the

tailgate, you will need to pay $10.00 to re-enter and pass the security checkpoints

again. No tents, large coolers, or grills after 10am. Those that have paid the $50.00 fee

to set up tents have to be present no later than 10am. The $50.00 purchase includes

entry for 2 people that need to arrive together, a table and 2 chairs. Vendors that have

paid the $300.00 vendor fee and met the qualifications to vend (Certificate of Insurance,

Food Handlers Certification, etc.) must also be present no later than 10am. Fee

includes entry for 2 people, a table and 2 chairs. Lawn chairs are permitted and will be

subject to search.

PROHIBITED ITEMS: 

- Purses, backpacks, and bags larger than 4 inches by 8 inches

- Mace or pepper spray

- Tobacco or smoking products i.e., cigarettes, cigars, vapes, e-cigarettes, marijuana

- Alcohol 

- Drugs and Drug paraphernalia

- Weapons 

Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Confiscated items will not be returned and will

be discarded.
