Since their founding in 2008, the all-female, all-star band Jazz in Pink has performed throughout the country and the world. Based in Los Angeles, the band performs jazz with undertones of soul, R&B, symphonic music, rock and hip hop.
The core group is led by keyboardist/vocalist Gail Jhonson, a Philadelphia native and Berklee graduate who also is the music director, keyboardist and vocalist for contemporary jazz guitarist and vocalist Norman Brown. For this performance, Jhonson will be joined by Paula Atherton on sax; Brooke Alford on violin; Keyanna Hutchinson on guitar; and Tiffani Walker on drums.
All the members have busy careers of their own, and have performed with, among others, Alex Bugnon, Sheila E, Peabo Bryson, David Benoit, Donnie McClurkin, the Virginia Symphony, Jonathan Butler, George Duke, Stanley Clarke and Patti Austin. Their “First Collection” was released in 2014, and their latest album, “Joy,” was released in 2020.
