Charting Growth: Key Conversations on Child Developmental Milestones & Screenings
Children develop skills like walking and talking at their own speed, so it's important for parents, caregivers, and early educators to understand typical development. Checking early can help prevent future issues (Zastrow et al., 2019). Screenings help see if a child is developing well, needs more watching, has concerns, or should see a pro. Many kids under 3 spend about 35 hours a week in daycare (Heller et al., 2012; Lombardi, 2003), showing why it's crucial for caregivers and families to keep talking about kids' progress, checks, and what to do next. By staying informed and involved, we can ensure every child gets the support they need to thrive.
Join us for an important talk about how children grow and the importance of checking their progress. The Eastern Shore Child Care Resource Center (ESCCRC) will share ways to help children develop well and discuss any concerns early on. Plus, Katie Mercer from Wicomico County’s Birth to 5 Program will talk about resources and services for babies, toddlers, families, and caregivers.
