Craig Thatcher & Friends: Eric Clapton Retrospective
READING BLUES FEST DAY hosted by WDIY 88.1 FM
Guitarist Craig Thatcher, in addition to leading his Craig Thatcher Band, is an International Clinician/Ambassador for C.F. Martin & Co. of Nazareth, Pa., as well as an instructor and recording artist.
Thatcher began playing guitar in 1964, inspired by the Beatles, and two years later was in his first band, which in two more years was being paid to perform.
In those formative years, Thatcher was influenced by the music of guitarist Eric Clapton (whom he will honor in the BJF concert), and then Jimi Hendrix. Over the years he has added many genres, including folk, funk/jazz, blues and rock. He has performed in every state and in more than 35 countries.
Thatcher has worked with or opened for many renowned artists, including Buddy Guy, Derek Trucks, John Hammond, Charlie Musselwhite, Roseanne Cash, David Bromberg, and Steve Miller.
Craig is also the originator and host of the PBS television series, “Behind The Guitar,” in which he presents and interviews internationally known guitarists in front of live audiences in the WLVT Channel 39 PBS studios.
The Craig Thatcher Band consists of Chico Huff on bass, Billy Wear on drums and percussion, and Cliff Starkey on keyboards and vocals. Special guests are Brett Andrew on guitar and vocals, and Regina Sayles and Billy Murnin on vocals.
