Dropkick + special guests The Ladles
Edinburgh-based Dropkick are flying down especially for this special night with us, and if you're into close-harmony, catchy, melodic Americana, you won't want to miss it.
"Those who have yet to latch onto them are surely missing something special....Indie, powerpop, accomplished harmonies, alt.country tendencies. What’s not to love?" – The Herald newspaper
The band will release their new album, Primary Colours, as a joint release with Bobo Integral Records (Spain) and Sound Asleep Records (Sweden) on 7th February 2025. It's Dropkick’s most accomplished and fully realised collection of songs to date, featuring ten new, concise, jangly guitar-orientated songs, showcasing their ear for melody and harmony.
Dropkick have released countless albums across well over a decade, collaborating mainly with cult labels in Spain, such as Pretty Olivia Records, Rock Indiana Records, Hurrah Musica and Bobo Integral Records. Their 2023 album, The Wireless Revolution, saw the band streamlined into a three-piece configuration, highlighting the multi-instrumental talents of each member.
Main songwriter, Andrew Taylor, is also one half of cult Spanish/Scottish collaboration, The Boys with the Perpetual Nervousness. Dropkick have a track record of playing festivals and venues across the UK such as Belladrum, Edinburgh Fringe, Glasgow Americana and Truck Festival. They’ve also recently played shows in Spain, France, Sweden and Norway.
Dropkick’s music has also received regular airplay on BBC Radio Scotland and across major radio networks in Europe, as well as achieving consistently positive press. "Precious pop" – El Pais (Spain) "A guarantee of Instant melodic fulfilment….Dropkick triumph in giving new edge to familiar themes" – (R2 Rock n Reel Magazine, UK). More at www.dropkickmusic.co.uk.

Tom Reid and Chris Narayan (of the Jasmine Minks), Sean Bright and Sam Palmer are joined by Isobel Reid and Joe Kinsey, the latter also the host of the SL's popular Open Mic night.
