This duo concert will bring together keyboardist/composer Oli Silk, a British native with a big following among international jazz fans, and the popular D.C.-based Phillip “Doc” Martin, a saxophonist making his name up and down the East Coast.

Silk, named Debut Artist of the Year in 2006 by Smooth Jazz News, also made his debut that year at the Catalina Island JazzTrax Festival. In 2010, he was nominated for International Artist of the Year by the American Smooth Jazz Awards. He has created eight albums, most recently “6” (2020).

Martin really is a doctor -- a dentist with a private practice -- but has equally impressive musical creds. Growing up in South Florida, he started playing sax in his public school’s band program and became the leading soloist in the South Plantation High School Jazz Band, and first chair in the All-State Jazz Band.

He studied music at the University of Central Florida, and was quickly hired as a sideman by Sam Rivers, Kirk Whalum, Sunnie Paxton, and others. He earned his medical degree, meanwhile, at Howard University College of Dentistry.

Martin has seven records under his belt, beginning with “Saxappeal,” and in 2020 released an eponymous album.
