Opening Night Ceremony
A brilliant and memorable selection of premiere short films from around the world await audiences at the gala opening night of the 41st Edition of Flickers.
This year’s line up promises to engage and entertain while saluting RIIFF’s unique status: out of more than 7,000 film festivals world wide, the Rhode Island International Film Festival is one of only 10 qualifying Festivals with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—in the Live Action, Animation and Documentary Short Oscars, while also serving as a qualifier for the BAFTA, GOYA, and Canadian Screen Awards.
This year's Opening Night will also feature a special screening of the iconic 1956 short film "The Red Balloon" directed by Albert Lamorisse with musical accompanyment by world renowned theatre organist, Peter Krasinski.
