Synopsis
Adil, a 35-year-old Kyrgyz man with the mental development of an 8-year-old, lives in a small village in Kyrgyzstan with Rayhan, his 75-year-old mother. Rayhan has always told Adil that God loves him in a special way and that he will go straight to Paradise. However, Adil does not want to go to Paradise without his mother. One day he learns from his 8-year-old best friend that if he takes his mother on foot to the Holy City of Mecca for Hajj, she will also go to Paradise. Paradise at Mothers' Feet is a moving and uplifting story about the power of a mother's love for her son and how the kindness and open hearts of people of different nationalities can help humanity to overcome the many problems and difficulties faced in life. The film provides the audience with a unique cinematic experience, immersing them into a world of breathtaking landscapes and the fascinating culture, customs and traditions of the countries through which Adil and his mother travel on their incredible journey to Mecca.

The Asian World Film Festival (AWFF), founded by Kyrgyz public figure Sadyk Sher-Niyaz and overseen by Executive & Program Director Georges N. Chamchoum, brings the very best of a broad selection of Asian World cinema to Los Angeles to draw greater recognition to the region's wealth of filmmakers and strengthen ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries. Uniting through cross-cultural collaboration, the Festival champions films from over 50 countries across Asia, spanning from Turkey to Japan and from Russia to India and South-East Asia. The Festival is unique in that it predominantly screens Oscar and Golden Globe submissions for Best International Feature Film and Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language respectively. All films that participate in the Festival will have a unique chance to be guided through the challenging awards season and showcased to members of the Motion Picture Academy, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and all Guilds for enhanced exposure, media attention and awards consideration.
