Rattle on the Stovepipe
Our 'American Roots' series of shows, bringing you the best of traditional American music from this country's finest folk, blues, country, bluegrass and Appalachian music specialists and performers, is back on October 31st with Rattle on the Stovepipe.
Rattle on the Stovepipe are Dave Arthur (guitar, 5-string banjo, melodeon, percussion, vocals), Pete Cooper (fiddle, mandolin, vocals) and Dan Stewart (5-string banjo, guitar, fiddle, harmony vocals).
The band first got together in 2003 to explore the connections between British, Irish and Appalachian songs and tunes that passed back and forth across the Atlantic. They are now recognised as a UK leader of Appalachian and old time Americana music. They'll be bringing you a mix of traditional songs, ballads and storming dance tunes from the Appalachians and the British Isles. This is real old time music played with verve and melodic nous by musicians at the very top of their game.
Pete Cooper directs the London Fiddle School and is the author of several books including 'American Old Time Fiddle Tunes'; he also plays as a duo with Richard Bolton, a jazz/folk cello player.
Dave Arthur is a storyteller and writer and a veteran of the British folk scene; Dave and Toni Arthur were a highly successful 1970s folk act.
Dan Stewart also plays in the Long Hill Ramblers, Swallowtail and in the Sussex Cajun group, The Hotfoot Band.
