Salt Creek Ballet Presents Don Quixote
"Don Quixote" is a comedic romance set against the sun-drenched landscapes of Spain, underscored by the vibrant compositions of Ludwig Minkus. Drawing inspiration from Miguel de Cervantes' epic 17th-century novel, the ballet narrates the tale of Don Quixote, an imaginative old knight who, spurred by a vision, embarks on a quest with his loyal companion Sancho Panza to find the idealized Dulcinea.
Adding to the magic of the production, the dancers seamlessly incorporate tambourines and Spanish fans into their routines, creating a rhythmic and visually stunning display. Kitri, in defiance of an arranged marriage to the wealthy Gamache, chooses love with her true passion, Basilio, the charming barber. Don Quixote, ever the romantic, intervenes to rescue Kitri from a loveless union.
