The Intern Experience: Johannes Müller
Our vivenuans have some pretty unique stories – and this is where we tell them. From vivenuans and interns to alumni, we ask how they came to vivenu, what their roles are like, and what they have learned along the way.
For today’s post, we sat down with Johannes Müller, an Intern with our Sales team based in Düsseldorf, Germany, to ask him about his vivenu experience. Johannes was looking for a challenge in an international environment and a product making a real impact.
At vivenu, he found both – and a lot more.
Tell Us About Yourself!
My name is Johannes and I’m an International Business student from Germany studying in the Netherlands. At vivenu, I am currently doing my final internship for my Bachelor’s degree. I’m a huge fan of soccer and American football and love to attend festivals, so when I was looking for an exciting internship position, vivenu already had a a huge advantage over other opportunities.
Why Did You Apply to vivenu?
I always had an interest in startups and working internationally, so naturally, I initially focused on the established startup hubs like Berlin and Munich. Then, a good friend told me about this company called vivenu in Düsseldorf. After thorough due diligence, I was sure this would be a great place to work and applied. In hindsight, I could not have chosen a better company to intern with.
With a lot of the startups around today, I just couldn’t get excited about their real-world application. At vivenu, I am able to combine my passion for entertainment and sports events with a cutting-edge, best-of-breed solution driving real innovation.
I spent a semester studying abroad in the US, which is probably where my affinity for American sports and culture comes from. This international perspective was non-negotiable for me for any internship position.
At vivenu, I have found all these things – and so much more.
What Projects are You Currently Working On?
Right now, I am driving a strategic initiative in our sales department, thinking about new ways to generate high-quality leads to support our expansion. Interacting with prospects and customers and really drilling down on their challenges in ticketing has provided a rich education in the industry – and seeing how vivenu helps them level up their ticketing has convinced me even more that innovation in the event industry is long overdue.
What Do You Like About Working at vivenu?
The big one for me has to be the team: vivenu has built an environment where every single one of my colleagues is hugely motivated, where dissent is encouraged and the feedback is always constructive. I have grown so much since joining the team and learned a ton. Furthermore, as we are still a startup, I can take real ownership and get to see the impact of what the team and I are doing every day. This is really motivating and makes me want to push even harder.
I can’t wait to see what the team is going to accomplish this year – and would love to be a part of the vivenu story even after my internship.
What Event are You Most Looking Forward to this Year?
I still have tickets to this great festival from 2020 that was delayed due to Covid. This year, I really hope it will take place – and I know for a fact that I will be very critical of the ticketing experience, because it’s not vivenu.
